Appendix B – Installing the SSL Certificate through a Web Browser

Select one of the following options:

Internet Explorer 7.0 or Later

Import the IC Control SSL certificate through the Internet Explorer 7.0 or later, browser. The end result is that the certificate file is imported into a Trusted Root Authority store location where user's computers can access Active Directory.

 

Before you start this task, you must download the IC Control certificate file, and put it in a folder on the network where others can access it. See Setup and Download the SSL Certificate.

 

To import the IC Control certificate

  1. Open the Internet Explorer browser, select File > Tools > Options

  1. From the Internet Options dialog, select the Content tab.

  1. From Certificates, select All from the Intended purpose download list.

  1. From the Certificate Import Wizard, click Next.

This wizard walks you through each step of importing the cacert.cert file so you can create a Group Policy Object, and then apply it throughout your network.

  1. Create a Certificate Store. The IC Control Trusted Authority Certificate is stored in the store location you select. Windows lets you select the certificate store location you want from the list.
  1. Select Place all certificates in the following store.
  2. Click Browse.



The following dialog appears.

  1. Select Trusted Root Certification Authorities.
  2. Click OK.

Confirm that the Certificate Store you selected from the Select Certificate Store dialog appears in the text box.

 

  1. The Certificate Import Wizard is now complete. The certificate information you selected appears in the text box.

The cacert.cer file imports into the Certificate Store.

The import message appears.

  1. Close the Certificates window.
  2. From Internet Options, click Closed.

Mozilla Firefox 3.5

The following instructions will help you import the IC Control certificate file through the Mozilla Firefox 3.5 browser.  Before you start this task, you must download the IC Control certificate file, and put it in a folder on the network where others can access it. See Setup and Download the SSL Certificate.

 

To import the IC Control certificate

  1. Open the Mozilla Firefox Web Browser.

  1. Select Advanced > Encryption tab.

  1. Select Authorities.

  1. From Select File containing CA certificate(s) to import, browse to the folder where you downloaded the cacert.cer file from IC Control. See Setup and Download the SSL Certificate.
  1. Select the cacert.cer file.
  2. Click Open.

  1. Select the certificate trust options.

  1. To verify the import, use the scroll bar to view the list until you find the certificate from IC Control.

 

  1. From Options, click OK.
